If I do, I'm going to start by trying 4.4.2.  Even 4.4.1 had bugs that
kept it from even building with the latest OS X:

Hopefully it isn't too hard to build GCC in OS X 10.6.  Every search
I've made for building GCC there have been pretty negative.  But we'll
see.
