If I want to pretty print a rational expression in the console, I need
to invoke maxima:
sage: var('a')
sage: S=factor(sum(1/(a+1)^i for i in range(6)))
sage: S
(a + 2)*(a^2 + a + 1)*(a^2 + 3*a + 3)/(a + 1)^5
sage: print S
(a + 2)*(a^2 + a + 1)*(a^2 + 3*a + 3)/(a + 1)^5
sage: print maxima(S)
which gives the nice pretty printed expression. Is there a way of
obtaining the same output which is "native" to Sage; that is, without
using Maxima?
