There seems to be a new feature in Jmol 12 for axes labelling.

We don't have Jmol 12 in Sage yet. There is a ticket for a massive
upgrade to jmol and using its capabilities that is ready for review here:

It would be great if you could add your review to others that are
reviewing it.
I don't know of a way of setting the axes labels right now (at least,
without drawing your own labels by creating a text that floats at the
right place).
