I'm > running Fedora Core 14. Sage generally comes "with batteries included", and if something is optional then it means that there is an optional Sage package. In particular, installating Macaulay2 system-wide on your machine is not how it is made available to Sage. I hope I understood correctly that by "from Fedora" you mean that you did not try to install an optional Sage package. However, if a system that is not part of Sage (like magma or Maple) is available system wide then it should be possible to use it by Sage's "pexpect" interfaces, without the need of any additional installations.
