Hi,

spd is based on Sage, but is a separate, independent project.  I would
either:

1) Install Sage itself.  Go to www.sagemath.org for downloads,
instructions, etc.

2) Ask about building spd on http://groups.google.com/group/spd-dev,
the official discussion group for spd.
