No, I have not had any problems before. I'm pretty sure that my previous version of SAGE was downloaded as a binary, and it worked beautifully on this machine for a good three years. Then a co-author suggested that I update to a newer version...
I'm game to build it from source if necessary, but I agree that if I'm patient someone will probably be able to spot what must have gone wrong here.
