This clears the confusion up, though not the OP's question. Can
someone help kuhn? I think that the problem is twofold.

 * It's not easy to use things from the Windows filesystem in the VM
Sage
 * It's possible to use worksheets that rely on external .sage files,
but which aren't in the DATA folder? (I may be misunderstanding this.)

 Dear kcrisman

Sorry...This cryptic How? was in fact in relation to a previously
sent message. The complete question is now: I saved from the web
page of A. Raichev http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~raichev/research.html,
on my Windows 7 laptop a .sws file, which calls programs written
in a .sage file. I coudn't use them through the wmware machine on
my Windows 7 laptop, since I don't know how to navigate between the
virtual machine and the laptop.

I have then used your suggestion "Dear Oscar,
These can simply be uploaded to a Sage account. Assuming you have
created one on sagenb.org or on your local machine, log in to your
account and click on "Upload" near the upper left corner. Uploading
a .sws file should work okay then. "

At sagenb.org I managed to upload the .sws file, but the .sage file
got the error
"There was an error uploading the worksheet. It could be an old
unsupported format or worse. If you desperately need its contents
contact the sage-support group and post a link to your worksheet..."

I hope the question is clearer now...
