I had some conversation with Francois Bissey. If I understood
correctly, trac ticket #9976, which was merged into sage-4.7.1,
created a problem for gentoo:

Some functions and methods created using the sage_wrap decorator are
reading the source files at startup - that behaviour was introduced in
#9976. But some Cython files are missing in gentoo - so I was told.

I opened a new ticket, #11734, which is a blocker for sage-4.7.2
(because of gentoo) and which already has two alternative patches (I
guess the second patch is better than my patch).

I don't know whether it fixes the gentoo problem (experts, please test
it!). As a nice side effect, the patch slightly decreases the sage
startup time and the memory consumption.

Cheers,
Simon
