In the long term I think it would be nice to have gcc 4.6 libquadmath wrapped into a Sage ring. Note: this is 128-bit float, not quad double = 256-bit float. Since it is part of gcc, I expect the quality and speed to be quite good, but I haven't benchmarked it against mpfr.
