The problem seems also to be compiler related : 

Somebody recently installed SAGE on our (scientific Linux 6.0 ) cluster
but using a more recent gcc version 4.6.0 instead of 4.4.4 which I used for 
the cluster install. (since this is standart there)
The glibc version there is still 2.12.
Doing so the segfault disappeared both in my program (so far) and also 
concerning the little test
of Burcin while it didn't for my install there using gcc 4.4.4 (and glibc 
2.12).

I still have to wait for some calculations on my local machine to get 
finished, before
I can make the test with a more recent glibc version there and answer your 
question.
