Hello, I'm new to Sage and I'm trying to do some calculations in toric geometry. My binary version struggled, and some of the combinatorial geometry functions didn't work. I was advised to build sage from source, which now gave me more problems. I'm running Mac OS_X 10.7.5 (with latest XCode installed) and I'm trying to make Sage 5.9. When typing make, after extracting the tar file in the /Applications directory I get the following message:
Found MacPorts in /opt/local/bin/port ********************************************************* Found either MacPorts or Fink in your PATH, which potentially wrecks the Sage build process. You should make sure MacPorts and Fink cannot be found. Either: (1) rename /opt/local and /sw, or (2) change PATH and DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH (Once Sage is built, you can restore them.) ********************************************************* make[2]: *** [/Applications/sage-5.9/spkg/installed/prereq-1.2] Error 1 make[1]: *** [all] Error 2 real 0m4.529s user 0m1.244s sys 0m1.577s *************************************************************** Error building Sage. The following package(s) may have failed to build: The build directory may contain configuration files and other potentially helpful information. WARNING: if you now run 'make' again, the build directory will, by default, be deleted. Set the environment variable SAGE_KEEP_BUILT_SPKGS to 'yes' to prevent this. make: *** [build] Error 1 I'm not very good in using the terminal, so please explain in basic terms why this happens, and how it may be solved. Thank you very much in advance. //Oskar -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "sage-support" group.
