I was able to make the substitution, first in cloud.sagemath and then locally oon my PC. The trick was to simplify the expression before doing the substitution. I should have probably tried that from the beginning. I would expect, however, the computation to take longer instead of segfaulting sage. BTW, I have just left the script running in cloud.sagemath. At least it is not segfaulting straight away, but after 10 minutes or so it is still processing. I'll report back when I get the results
