I just installed 64-bit LinuxMint 17 (based on Ubuntu 14.04). I started by
downloading the sage-6.3-x96_64-Linux binaries, and when I run sage, I can
use the command-line just fine (using the example 1+1, and it returning 2).
After running "notebook()", the browser window opens, I start a new
worksheet, and when I try entering 1+1 and pressing Shift-Enter (or
clicking Evaluate), it acts like it's computing (title bar is animated with
alternating '/' and '\', and there's a green bar just below the execution
block), but it never returns the answer "2".
I went a step further and compiled sage from the sage-6.3 source code, and
I have the same issue. CLI works fine, but the notebook won't execute
anything. Searching for similar notebook hangups, I couldn't find anything
matching the problem that I'm having.

I'm happy to provide any additional information, but no errors show up in
the terminal where I'm running "sage: notebook()", except a warning about
rebuilding with libgmp >= 5 to avoid a timing attack vulnerability. Any
help is greatly appreciated. This has been racking my brain for the last
couple days.
