On my Mac using Safari or Firefox, if I run sage and then start the notebook, live cells in the documentation work just fine. (On the other hand, if I go to sagenb.org, log in, click Help and open up a live reference manual page, I get a green block cursor after I evaluate a cell, but it never actually evaluates. Or at least not after at least 5 minutes of waiting. I don't know if you're interested in the behavior of sagenb.org.)
