Do you mean github, or sage trac git server?
(you can tell by looking at the output of
git remote -v

Note that 6.10 is not yet release, there are beta versions only.
to switch to the latest (it might differ on different git servers,
eventually, although now
they are the same) beta, do
git checkout develop
followed by
git pull develop
followed by
make
(or by $MAKE, with MAKE set to something like "make -j4", if your machine
has 4 cores)
