That's strange and annoying. It used to be that "%load" was just "load", and that attach was identical to load, except it would watch the filesystem for changes and reload when the file changed. People re-implemented load and/or attach using IPython, so things changed/diverged. If %load doesn't work when %attach does in a situation like this, then there is definitely some sort of bug.
