I'm trying to get an image of just the real line, ideally with a fairly thick line for the axis, with the points 1 and -1 labelled, but the line extending beyond them a bit. The main problem I'm having is, I'm trying to do this with the plot function. I just do
plot(x,x,alpha = 0) However, I can't figure out how to make the y-axis disappear. How should I do this? I can't figure out how to do the rest either, but they are not as important (though, if you have tips for doing that part, that'd be great as well!)
