8.2 was released before the latest OSX updates, thus all the bets are off 
regarding its usability. However, few things that can break your installation: 
spaces in the path of the directory you unpack into; weird PATH containing 
things (homebrew?) which shadow /usr/bin, /bin, etc.; Python environments such 
as anaconda in your PATH; LD_LIBRARY_PATH and its friends set to something 
"interesting"...

Perhaps the best would be to build the latest beta from source.
