We often get reports of

   SageMath 8.x works but not SageMath 9.0

but it usually turns out that in such cases, the version that works
was installed under macOS 10.14 Mojave, and that what is
causing problems is that the version that fails to work was
installed under macOS 10.15 Catalina.
