Great work, Alex! I will get to work reviewing what you have done.
Quick idea: instead of having all these doctests requiring different
expected answers for 32 vs.64 bit, why don't we automatically initialise
pari on *both* 32- and 64-bit machines to the same precision, say 38
decimals? (Or 19, which makes sense for both, if we want to be faster).
I can never work out what time of day it is for you, but I hope to work on
this on Saturday afternoon.
