Apply only edit-in-place-and-javascript-spkgs.patch. Ignore the make-
javascript-spkgs.patch file.
Note that the edit-in-place... patch also resolves #4255.
I also took the opportunity to clean up some of the javascript code in
js.py to use jquery instead of custom code, and to note in comments
several places where we could use jquery further to possibly simplify our
code or make our code better.
