#4612: [with patch, needs work] is_perfect_power for rationals
------------------------------+---------------------------------------------
Reporter: robertwb | Owner: somebody
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: major | Milestone: sage-3.4
Component: basic arithmetic | Resolution:
Keywords: |

Comment (by mabshoff):
Note that with the old gmp as well as the new eMPIRe this operation leaks
like a sieve:
{{{
sage: get_memory_usage()
798.4765625
sage: time len([a for a in srange(10**6) if not
(-a^3).is_perfect_power()])
CPU times: user 2.84 s, sys: 0.27 s, total: 3.12 s
Wall time: 3.12 s
241224
sage: get_memory_usage()
868.921875
}}}
I have made this #4935 since it is seemingly unrelated to the correctness
issue.
Cheers,
Michael
