 "dense" in Sage is an implementation detail.  Any matrix can be made dense
 or sparse, even if it is not a good idea for the algorithm at hand.

 In the discussion here, the actual "density" of the adjacency matrix is
 relevant for which approach (matrix algebra, vertex neighborhoods) might
 be faster.
