OK, it took me some work to rebase it. Of course the docstrings are not
all restified, but this should be done in #4933.
I attach a new patch that will replace all others before. It was exported
against my sage 3.4.
I added the 'positive review' back, but maybe soneone else should check
the tests again, indep. of me.
