Robert wrote that code. :-) I think the issue is that some doctests may
spawn new processes that can survive their death. Do you have an
alternate approach to suggest?
I'm very happy that you found the problem in #13748; I will try to take a
look at this while I'm at the Joint meetings next week. In general I have
very little time this month....
