 All GAP/libGAP processes should be terminated by the time we are building
 the manual, so I don't see how we could possibly impact that.

 Is this a 32-bit machine? There you might run into warts caused by the
 limited address space, and the halving pool size would support that.
 Sphinx uses quite a lot of memory and might fail to load its pickles if
 there is no memory left **or** no contiguous address space block
 available.
