 One very astonishing difference is that without #12313, Hom (or anything
 else from sage.categories.homset) is not called at all!!! Note that the
 list without #12313 is complete.

 I expected that it would be called once, and then cached. But why is no
 homset created, even though coercion maps should certainly be involved?
