 Thanks for the feedback guys!

 As far as the name goes, I would like to have distance_matrix for the
 distance matrix  since this is usually what it is referred to in graph
 theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distance_matrix)

 As for the (0,1)-matrix of vertices at distance i, this sounds like a
 generalization of the adjacency_matrix and I would suggest it is
 implemented by introducing an additional parameter to adjacency_matrix.
 Like
