this looks weird:

def orbit(self, point, onsets = False, ontuples = False):
}}}
What about
{{{
def orbit(self, point, action = "onpoints"):
}}}
(or {{{"OnPoints"}}} ?) which is the default,
and then sort out the cases {{{action = "onsets"}}}, etc. ?
