Okay, I need to investigate more, but I've tried on more machines, and
have found that freshly built trees seem to work better. I built from rc3
source on Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 and 32-bit Fedora 10, and can't reproduce this
bug. My original report is from an upgraded tree, and I upgraded from rc2
to rc3 on OS X and am seeing the same error that [comment:8 cremona] saw,
but it's intermittent; I see it once every four or five tests.
I am building a fresh rc3 tree on OS X and will report what I see,
although it will be a day or so until I have time to do this.
