takes eons on a reasonably modern Ubuntu laptop because it checks ALL the

On my reasonably modern Gentoo laptop, this takes about 40 seconds (with 1
thread), which I personally find reasonable.

I don't think it's such a big regression. With 1 thread, it is slightly
slower than before, but not by much.
