I like the patch, except for one major and one minor issue:
Major: I can't positively review a patch where doctests fail after the
patch is applied. I'm not sure what's the right thing to do here; I'm
going to post on sage-devel.
Minor: I don't like the name of the command-line argument (I would guess
that "-rand" would set the random seed for each doctest, or something).
How about -randorder instead?
