The following code placed in {{{sage/groups/groups_catalog.py}}}:
{{{
from sage.misc.lazy_import import lazy_import
lazy_import( 'sage.groups', 'finitely_presented_catalog', 'presentation' )
}}}
Has the desired effect (libgap is no longer loaded on startup), however
{{{groups.lazy_import}}}
is now part of the global name-space. Any suggestions for removing this
side-effect?
