Well, this is the standard notation. Might be a bit awkward, indeed. These
numbers are best understood as entries of the
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distance-regular_graph#Intersection_numbers
"intersection matrix"], which in this case happens to be 3-diagonal.
