Well, I don't care much about `a==0` (a matter of definition, it's ok, and
one usually has to treat zeroes differently anyway), but normally one
isn't interested in a trivial solution, unless it's ''the only one'', and
if there's no way to get (or even get to know whether there is) a non-
trivial solution [as well]...
