In this event, I'd prefer a minimally invasive thing here for PPC and just
rpy (which means fixing R, of course) so it is easy for me to test. And
indeed this is the only library preventing build (or even doctest
failures, this is one of only a few) on the platform in the ticket.
Doesn't mean we shouldn't fix the rest! This is purely for my convenience
in testing.
