 Yeah, I can confirm that at least the initial two commits have the
 following behavior on localhost (the way MOST users will interact with the
 notebook in their personal installations):
  * Safari 5 (old) seems to work fine
  * FF 31 seems to be ok
  * Chrome 34ish has the behavior strogdon reported.
 This would be really tragic because I think we're really close here.  I
 don't want to tell people "just don't use Chrome" since it has a large
 market share and has a much better reputation for compliance with
 standards than the also-large IE.
