You could possibly make it so that one can choose between two different
implementations of {{{RealIntervalField}}} and {{{ComplexIntervalField}}},
just like one can choose between:
{{{PolynomialRing(ZZ, implementation='NTL')}}}
{{{PolynomialRing(ZZ, implementation='FLINT')}}}
So you might look up how those are implemented. I don't have an opinion on
whether this is better than what you're doing right now.
