 You are quite right - so, does Pari support this?  If not, then it's
 probably a fairly big job and should be a different ticket (while you
 should make sure that this ticket remains agnostic with respect to your
 questions so the backend can be changed).  If yes, hopefully we could just
 hook into their stuff for anything nontrivial.
