`plot3d_adaptive`, `TrianglePlot`, and the rest of `tri_plot.py` are
mostly disjoint from the rest of the 3d plotting code. This makes it
difficult to maintain or implement new 3d plotting features.
These should be merged into the rest of the 3d plotting framework.
