I'm reopening this as it totally breaks OSX, see
http://build.sagedev.org/release/builders/%20%20fast%20Volker%20MiniMac%20%28OSX%2010.10%20x86_64%29%20full/builds/63/steps/compile_1/logs/stdio
I haven't tried to understand whats going on but it seems that packages
don't wait for the gcc build to finish
