The attached patch uses weakrefs for multivariate polynomials but not for
univariate polynomials (we still use the same {{{_cache}}} object to hold
both though). It seems the SIGSEGV is due to some Pari issue so the patch
seems safe at first sight (famous last words). I will post debug info in a
minute.
