Actually, I just noticed that the {{{alexander_polynomial}}} method
currently gives incorrect results, even when no braid strands are ignored:

sage: B = BraidGroup(4)
sage: b = B([1,3]) # A braid where all strands play a role
sage: L = Link(b) # Two disjoint unknots
sage: b.alexander_polynomial()
0
sage: L.alexander_polynomial()
1

In this case, 0 is the correct result as the link bounds a disconnected
oriented surface (two disjoint disks).
