Malloc respects overcommit accounting, it essentially does mmap without
MAP_NORESERVE (that is one of the implementations in glibc). The OS
doesn't mess up, it just does what you ask it to. I.e. overcommit and,
quite possibly, kill the next process that wants more memory (or just do
something with his previously-malloced memory). And I really don't like my
processes being killed because I'm running doctests in the background.
