> @mezzarobba: The problem with non-numeric arguments not getting through
unconverted to `function::eval` cannot be solved with the current
`BuiltinFunction`. Some numerics aren't even converted but throw an error,
see #17790. I thus think that the given examples with `polygen(CC)` as
argument cannot be implemented at the moment without kludging a taylor-
made `__call__` method, and should be worked around using substitution. A
solution will only be possible with #18832.
I have opened #20312 on which the above depends.
