You are right, the .in files are changed, which calls automake, etc.
Yuck. So the "foreign-language" files add about 4 MB, interesting...
maybe there is some way to get rid of these without doing something weird
like that?
This SPKG.txt is a little dated, anyway - it still has instructions for
clisp! Let's see what Alex has to say, if he's available.
