This ticket was opened 3 years ago and never settled. I hope the attached
patch will allow it to be put to rest. Certainly there will be ways of
tricking this (very flexible) constructor but everything that used to work
still does, and there are now more ways of constructing Elliptic Curves!
I hope that Nils and/or others will enjoy taking the opportunity to close
a 3-digit ticket.
