 Sorry, dumb question.

 This is what I should have asked: The condition

 {{{
        if sum(p1) != sum(p2):
             raise ValueError("The two partitions must sum to the same
 value.")
 }}}
 should be replaced by a condition on p1 and the *conjugate* of p2,
 shouldn't it?
