 Applies fine to 4.3.3.a0 on a mac 10.6.2. Passes sage -testall and the
 reference manual/documentation looks good.

 Positive review.

 I should add that this is a completely different, and much faster,
 implementation that the Wikipedia one (which is the one originally
 submitted).
