There are several ways, e.g.
{{{
sage: v = G.random_vertex()
sage: v in G
sage: G.has_vertex(v)
True
}}}
etc.
You can also do
{{{
sage: G.random_edge(labels=False)
(...,...)
sage: G.random_edge(labels=True)
(...,...,...)
}}}
